NYBFW RECAP PT. 4: VERA WANG (AND IT MADE MY LIFE)
It’s FRI-YAYYY!
Hi friends. Today is a great day for a few reasons. #1, It’s Friday. Which honestly that doesn’t really matter because I work 7 days a week, but still, yay. #2, Today we are picking up our new puppy, George. #3, I have some fun weekend plans ye-hoo. And #4, I have part 4 of my NYBFW recap below! (See parts 1, 2, and 3).
So my first market appointment, which I was so lucky to attend thanks to the fabulous NYC Bridal Stylist (which if you are a bride-to-be, you need her in your life, seeriously), was at Vera Wang. Now if you don’t know, Vera Wang is the OG of bridal. Her pieces are artfully made, innovative, and sometimes just straight up cool. Now sometimes during appointments you do get to meet the designer or at least see them, but here I’m thinking that Vera won’t be there because let’s be honest I’m pretty sure she’s busy running an empire. Well dip me in batter and call me chicken finger because THE Vera Wang graced us with her presence. I kid you not she walks around with an aura of coolness. Simply being in the same room as a legend like her just left me completely dumbfounded.
But anyway, on to the dresses! This was Vera Wang’s 60th (yes, 60th) bridal collection, which means she celebrated 30 years in bridal this year. The color palette was black and shades of white and ivory, and many of the gowns had words embroidered on them which was super cool. But honestly, the part I loved? The black shoes! If you know me I like a little bit of edge in most of my looks. (Either that or I’m legit channeling Grace Kelly). Key design components in this collection included silk faille, custom macrame, embroidery (which can be done in custom colors), controlled nudity (so basically sheer components/nude underlays), and hand-frayed edges.
