2021 Wedding Dress Trends You Need to Know
Hi guys!
I hope you’re holiday season is going well. Can you believe 2020 is almost over? This year just flew by! Which in retrospect, is probably a good thing. Could you imagine if this year was slow? Yikes!
With that being said, each new year ushers in new wedding dress trends! Many of these bridal trends have been around for a while, but each year they get a little bit of an upgrade. From statement sleeves, to corsetry, dramatic trains, and overskirts, I’m rounding up trends that brides-to-be should watch out for in 2021.
Statement Sleeves
If you’re following along on the LuxeBrideGuide Instagram, you know I am OBSESSED with statement sleeves. From boho bell sleeves to billowy bishop sleeves and puffy shoulders, it’s safe to say that sleeves are taking over. From subtle to bold, there’s really a style for everyone out there. Check out some major wedding dress inspiration below.
Embellished & Low Backs
Unique backs have been in for a while! From low backs with lace trim to illusion styles artistically adorned with appliqués, there’s no end to what designers are coming up with! This year you’ll see strappy styles as well.
Corsetry
Made popular by designers like Pnina Tornai, the corset bodice isn’t only functional, but fashionable! This style highlights your waist while providing structure and the ultimate fit, not to mention it happens to add some extra details to your look with boning and possibly a corset back. For a modern take, look for a sheer back with exposed boning.
Dramatic Trains
If you want to make a grand statement, look no further than a dramatic train! Key details to look for are lace inserts, lace trim, or a shape different from the traditional rounded style. We love a square, pointed, or even tulip shaped train for something a little different. If you want the drama of a ball gown but want a fitted dress, a long train is a great way to achieve a grand look.
Two Looks in One
Can’t decide between a ball gown and a fitted silhouette? A detachable overskirt does the trick (see the look from Pnina Tornai below)! Another way to get two looks in one is by adding a cape to your gown for the ceremony and taking it off for the reception. I think this idea is perfect for the bride who doesn’t want two completely different dresses but does want to switch up her look throughout the night.
Gown Alternatives
In the time of elopements, minimonies, and micro-weddings, the gown alternative has been making a major comeback! Jumpsuits, rompers, little white dresses, and suiting has been all the rage for brides wanting a look that’s less than fussy or who want to save the big dress for the big celebration.
Which of these 2021 bridal fashion trends is your favorite? Let me know in the comments! Wishing you all a safe and healthy New Year.
